As victims of violence, we tend to see things one-sidedly, but that approach will not bring a solution. We must be willing to see the whole picture. Only by looking at the complete truth can we find the necessary understanding to minimize violence within our close circles.
While physical violence is the “last straw,” so to speak, violence itself is not limited to the physical. I see violence as destructive energy directed and applied through a medium. It can take many forms:
- Sound traveling through the air—whether it is shouting or silence, what matters is the energy the sound carries.
- Visual—expressed through gestures and looks.
- Physical—applied through touch. Even a relatively gentle touch can leave a lasting mark if it carries deep, destructive energy.
- Energetic and Emotional—this level is not always obvious, and many are unaware of it. Yet, simply being near someone harboring intense, destructive emotions can affect us. It can leave us feeling suddenly drained, weak, or low in energy without knowing why.
When violence exists in a home, it rarely stays on just one level. While physical violence is difficult to deny to oneself or others, violence on these other levels is much easier to hide. Many choose to deny it and may even feel justified in doing so. However, denial is the opposite of a solution. Wrong is wrong, and we eventually live with the consequences of our actions.
Violence is never the answer. If you are experiencing these layers of tension in your life or your home, please know that you do not have to navigate this alone. I am here to listen and help you find a path back to balance.
I invite you to book a free consultation so we can meet in person (or via video) to discuss how we can work together toward a safer and more peaceful life.
